String production after angled brane inflation

چکیده
We describe string production after angled brane inflation. First, we point out that there was a discrepancy in previous discussions. The expected tension of the cosmic string calculated from the four-dimensional effective Lagrangian did not match the one obtained in the brane analysis. In the previous analysis, the cosmic string is assumed to correspond to the lower-dimensional daughter brane, which wraps the same compactified space as the original mother brane. In this case, however, the tension of the daughter brane cannot depend on the angle (θ). On the other hand, from the analysis of the effective Lagrangian for tachyon condensation, it is easy to see that the tension of the cosmic string must be proportional to θ, when θ ≪ 1. This is an obvious discrepancy that must be explained by consideration of the explicit brane dynamics. In this paper, we will solve this problem by introducing a simple idea. We calculate the tension of the string in the two cases, which matches precisely. The cosmological constraint for angled inflation is relaxed, because the expected tension of the cosmic string becomes smaller than the one obtained in previous arguments, by a factor of θ.

Inflation from String Theory
I review some aspects of obtaining inflation from string theory, in particular braneantibrane inflation within the framework of KKLMMT, and racetrack inflation. Further, I discuss recent work on the problem of reheating after brane-antibrane annihilation, and possible distinctive features of production of cosmic string and brane defects at this time.
متن کاملReheating the Universe after String Theory Inflation
In String theory realizations of inflation, the end point of inflation is often brane-anti brane annihilation. We consider the processes of reheating of the Standard Model universe after brane inflation. We identify the channels of inflaton energy decay, cascading from tachyon annihilation through massive closed string loops, KK modes, and brane displacement moduli to the lighter standard model...

We investigate D-term strings in angled inflation and show how they could be distinguished from conventional cosmic strings. In angled inflation, D-term strings are Dp−2 branes that are extended between Dp branes. The Dp−2 brane has a flat direction in compactified space, along which the endpoint of the Dp−2 brane can move freely on the Dp brane. Then naturally the position of the Dp−2 brane co...

Overall, brane inflation is compatible with the recent analysis of the Wilkinson microwave anisotropy probe ~WMAP! data. Here we explore the constraints of WMAP and the 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey ~2dFGRS! data on the various brane inflationary scenarios. Brane inflation naturally ends with the production of cosmic strings, which may provide a way to distinguish these models observationally. We ...
متن کاملWilson Line Inflation
We present a general set-up for inflation in string theory where the inflaton field corresponds to Wilson lines in compact space in the presence of magnetic fluxes. T -dualities and limits on the value of the magnetic fluxes relate this system to the standard D-brane inflation scenarios, such as brane-antibrane inflation, D3/D7 brane inflation and different configurations of branes at angles. T...
